Miranda Aulie, MSW, LICSW
Hello, and welcome to Wishing Well Therapy services! My Name is Miranda Aulie and I have been living in the Brainerd Lakes area for the past 18 years. I always say this career path has been life long in the making and my own personal life experiences have added to the richness of my knowledge and understanding. Prior to working in mental health, I spent over 15 years working in healthcare with the aging population and individuals with chronic or terminal illness. I’ve also worked with children through a youth mentoring program running school programs and activities, and I currently work with a vast array of mental health diagnosis and areas of concerns. I have got to say, it has been difficult pinning down my “specialty” as I love working with a variety of people and areas of concern and find it rewarding on so many different levels. However, it is a passion of mine for Wishing Well to focus primarily on women and the experiences unique to them.
I am very much so a strengths based and client centered therapist. It is always my goal to leave people feeling better leaving therapy than when they came in. That does not mean that we can magically ‘fix’ everything (boy, do I wish), but it is my hope that you feel supported, heard and less alone in your struggles. I tend to be a pretty proactive therapist, and although I will honor thoughtful quiet spaces, you will not experience long awkward pauses. I will honor your stage of readiness, while gently challenging you to dig deeper and explore what it is you are truly needing for healing.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches however I tend to begin by focusing on what is occurring within the body and nervous system, being that if our bodies are dysregulated, we often cannot “think” our way out of the problem. From there we can begin addressing how we think about our struggles, explore where they came from and underlying themes, and then learn skills to help address how it is causing difficulty in our life. I am not always going to “know” everything, however I do know that I am going to do everything I can to help you figure it out. I am a researcher by nature, and love learning which helps ensure my work is based on best research and empirically supported.
I hope that within the walls of my office you feel comforted, safe, understood and empowered. I am so excited to have this opportunity and cannot wait to begin working with you!
Wishing you well on your healing journey!
Warm Regards,
Miranda
